‘Le Pôle international francophone de formation et d’échanges des gestionnaires de sites patrimoniaux’ is offering training for French speaking site managers in 2021. The Call for applications is open until 30 October 2020. The 8th edition of intensive international training for site managers “Building together the future of heritage sites: developing and implementing sustainable management” will be held from Monday, 31 May to Friday, 11 June 2021.

Objective

The main objective of this training is to change the perspective of French speaking managers on the projects they carry out at their heritage sites, taking into account all of the issues they encounter. It emphasizes the exchange of experiences between managers of heritage sites. The emphasis is on the manager’s role as facilitator of a territorial approach. The following themes are discussed: values and identity of a site, integrated management, governance, mediation and consultation, sustainable tourism, link with the populations…

The training refers to the fundamental principles affirmed by the UNESCO World Heritage Convention of 1972 and to the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030).

The participants complete training with new encounters and experiences, and methods aimed at fueling their reflection to build a project for the integrated and sustainable management of their heritage sites. At the end of the training, the trainees join an active exchange network between former trainees, trainers and managers from the five continents, led by the network ‘Réseau des Grands Sites de France’ (RGSF).
